In 2015 I spotted the revival of these cute little pins.  A New York ice cream shop had one cute “frenchie on a scone” pin as part of their merchandising, which I thought was really clever. It immediately sparked my interest and I began thinking about having my own pincollection that would radiate one and the same message.

G R L P W R !

I wanted these pins to be fun and a bit provoking. I started sketching and came up with loads of ideas, so deciding which 10 – 12 designs had to be made into pins was challenging on itself. Picking a theme helped me a lot.

Since I had never designed before, sorting out how to draw in Illustrator and Photoshop was the next huge step. Hours and hours of self-taught began. Yayy for “how to” youtube videos, e-courses, friends and a supportive and patient boyfriend.

Finding a trustworthy manufacturer who would deliver high quality pins was the third challenge and took me many hours of research as well. As frustrating as it sometimes was – I dealt with 3 (!) wrong deliveries that took me ages from opening my shop –  I knew what I wanted and persevered.

Branding – a.k.a. choosing colorschemes, fonts and the overall feel of what I wanted The Sassy Girl to be – was the real fun part for me. Besides fun, i think it is very important to establish a brand upfront. This will make it much easier for yourself and for your visitors and/or customers to connect. I will definitely elaborate on this subject in future blogposts.

This is in short how i created the current Sassy Girl pincollection. One year later I can’t believe how much awesome women I have met just because of the pins. The pincommunity is really strong and supportive, I love to see how many women create and hustle their way to the top. Mostly by being their lovely selves.

With the pins, I have just carried out one tiny part of what I envision(ed) The Sassy Girl to be. Since I started from scratch, I allow myself to grow slowly. I am currently working on a new productline, which I can’t wait to share with all of you.
Besides creating products that suit a Sassy lifestyle, I am on a mission to create an inspiring platform to empower women in mind, life and business.

I am already so proud of what these little accesoires contribute to some of the wearers lives. (Some of you send me these really sweet messages <3 which make my day + make the hustle much easier) I hope to give loads of more inspiration, mainly through these (upcoming) blogposts and videos.

Let’s grow awesome together!

P.S. Say Hii! if you are a pinmaker as well 😀 (and if you recognize the hustle) Would love to hear your story, on how you started out. xx San
