Real goalgetter girls turn dreams into reality. How? By turning their dreams into visions. Where dreams are aspirational, visions are intentional, a.k.a. the latter gets you from where you are today to where you want to be in the (near) future. So to turn dreams into tangible outcomes we need to start visualizing to inspire focused action every single day. The best way to do so is to make a vision board. Grab every magazine that’s readily available; girl, it’s time to turn these dreams into action.

A Vision is not just a picture of what could be; it’s an appeal to our better selves, a call to something more

Some ins and outs of manifesting

A vision board is about making progress, keeping your goals in mind every single day, and more so about manifesting your dreams and desires and welcoming them into your life. It all starts with the following question. What is it that you really want in your life? You can’t exaggerate, when it comes to visualizing. What is important is that you truly believe in your vision.

Your personal belief system can work against you. When I was cutting out magazine images, I was confronted with my own limiting beliefs. I noticed that I skipped most luxurious products or exotic destinations; unconsciously thinking I wasn’t able to reach these goals within the next five years. Face these thoughts and acknowledge them for what they are; they are just beliefs not truths! Simply try on a different, more positive belief, how does it suit you and is it aligned with what you really want?

What matters most is staying true to yourself and how YOU want YOUR life to look like. Besides getting rid of limiting beliefs, you also need to stop chasing the insta-picture-perfect lives of others. Do you picture yourself traveling at least 12 times per year? Do you see yourself wearing mostly designer clothing? Are you able to visualize the tiniest details of your future dream home, already hearing waves lapping on the shore, smelling the sea? As long as it’s your vision, allow yourself to reach for the sky, if that is what you want.

Let’s do this

My vision board is about long-term goals of 5 years, since dreams can evolve or change, you can make a vision board every year.  Whatever format you decide upon, it’s all OKAY.

I decided to use different kinds of magazines, from fashion and lifestyle magazines to mindfulness, home and decor and family magazines. This way you make sure to find pictures and quotes on all areas of life and you’ll avoid ending up with a one-sided vision board. If you don’t have that many magazines at hand, you can always turn to Pinterest. However, keep in mind that pinning with intent is a lot more difficult than cutting with intent. On Pinterest it’s easy to be distracted.

It takes some time to go through all these magazines and Pinterest pins. To prevent myself from drowning in all this cutting and pinning, I am searching with four specific categories in mind.

  1. career and money
  1. health and wellness
  1. love and relationships
  1. experiences (home, car, travel, fun)

Now, the only thing you need to do is sit down, have yourself a huge cup of tea, scissors at hand and check your gut feelings. Which quotes or words are you drawn to, which pictures or colors make you happy? Don’t overthink, now is the time to let go of all thoughts, just let your intent guide you.

If this sounds real abstract, or you find it difficult to stop thinking, then get yourself into chill vibe with this perfect vision board background music.

If you’d like to see how my vision board turned out, feel free to check out the video I made about manifesting. It’s in Dutch, hence this elaborate blog about visualizing, just to make up to you 😉

Now, I would love to know if you’re going to make a vision board, or if you already made one. Which goals do you have in life?
